I've got a 92 Sport 5 spd with a new clutch in it. I've had it in at most 8,000 miles and a little over a year I believe, maybe a year and a half. My truck sits a lot becaus it's not my DD. I just replaced the battery because it was dead the truck had been sititing for a few months. Now when I go to put it in gear it is TOUGH to get in gear. It doesn't grind except when I'm putting it in reverse. Like I said this is a new clutch that hasn't been used a whole lot. Any reason why it would not be disengaging and is there a way to fix the problem? Any help would be apprecaited.

Thanks!

have you tried pumping it up first before putting it into gear?

since its the hydraulic clutch it may need to be bleeded since some air or moisture might in the line

Did you replace the slave cylinder when you did the clutch?

Yes I've tried pumping it and it didn't help.

Did you replace the slave cylinder when you did the clutch?
I'm not 100% positive but I think I did. I'll ask my brother to see if we did or not. Are you thinking it might be the salve cylinder?

check the clutch resevoir and see if its almost empty or empty.Just had to replace a slave cylinder. My clutch pedal felt normal but was hard to shift then after a week or 2 just went to the floor so check to see if it was replaced if not tranny has to come off again

It sounds like the slave cylinder, check to see if there is any fluid around the bottom of the bell housing, there may not be. I'd try bleeding the clutch and seeing if that fixes it. If it comes back I'm willing to bet it's the slave cylinder. Fortunantly they're only aobut 30 bucks but the whole transmission has to come out to replace it. :\

^ yup,

my dad and my grandpa and I had to pull a 5-speed out of my little brother's truck and what a ***** that was,

when in to get a new line and the mechanic suggested that we go ahead and replace the cylinder as long as the tranny was out

I'm thinking it's the fluid, I'll try to add some and see if that helps. I'll let you know if that helps. Thanks!

Fixed it, it just needed some fluid and it's shifting as good as new. Thanks!!

Hopefully that'll fix your problem. Bleeding the clutch would work for about a week and then it would start acting up again, hopefully it works out for you. good luck.
