hey guys, several years ago I was around here and got lots of good advice for my explorer, now I return for help with a friend's vehicle as well.

Truck is a 1999 Ranger 2wd, 5speed. recently he's been having trouble with the clutch. With the vehicle running he cannot get into any gear except 4th. The master and slave cylinder were both replaced just over a year ago. I checked the fluid level and it's quite full. The vehicle WILL go into any gear with the engine off, however like I said running it will only go into 4th.

I'm thinking this is obviously a hydraulic issue, and I never came across this in my Explorer days. What could it be? What are some good things to check?

I appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Can you check the stroke at the clutch while the pedal is being depressed?

I don't beleive so, the truck is currently sitting in a parking lot, and I'm not familiar with the Hydraulic system setup on the ranger. I have traced the line to where it goes into the transmission but that's about it.
