OK, I replaced the entire master cyl due to the fact the factory on had a PLASTIC pushrod that snapped on me. So I removed the old one and put on the new. Now I am having trouble with Bleeding it. I removed clutch fluid line from transmission. I pressed in the middle of the male end of the quick disconnect that I removed with a small screwdriver. I had someone else in the car dress the pedal then I released the screwdriver and He let go of the pedal. Then I loosed the bleeder screw and let air out. But I still have no pedal at all. What am I doing wrong?

OK, maybe im misunderstanding you, but as your friend presses the pedal in, you should twist the bleeder valve letting the air release, then tighten again before your friend does anything else with the pedal. Sounds to me like your friend may be sucking air back in via the bleeder valve as he lets his foot off the pedal.

The idea is to build up pressure in the system, then release it through the bleeder valve then close it off again.

Also, be sure you've got plenty of fluid in the reservoir when you're doing this. HOpe that helped you.

aint that neat? I found out mine was plastic that way too..

just gotta bleed it right and keep bleeding it until you get too tired to do it any more..hear its best to bench bleed it before installing too.

I dont understand, when I changed mine, it did not need any bleeding since it's quick disconnect. I just put back the new unit in, and voila, it's done. The new unit should be alredy pressurise(from Ford at least).
 
























OK I have taken the line off the tranny and I have been trying to bleed that like the directions said, and I still can't get a pedal. It feels the same way.

yu only need the line off when youre removing and installing...

make sure the line is connected and sealed right. then just fill the clutch fluid container with fluid and bleed it as long as you can tolerate it. make sure you just fill the container enough so you can pop in the black cone thingy and it tops off. also keep the cap off the fluid container while bleeding the clutch.

if all else fails take it back and get a new one.
 






OK I will hook it up and try it. So just pump the clutch up and the bleed and fill it up. ANd just keep doing it?

pretty much..

just when bleeding it remember to only push the valve open when the pedal is being pushed, then let go and make sure its closed before the pedal is released. if the pedal is moved back at all while youre still holding the valve open, you'll just be sucking air. always check the clutch fluid after a few bleeds cuz if its empty air will get sucked in that way too. bleed it till you drop cuz I only bled it a few times and now I think theres still air in there..
 






Ok I did what you said and still nothing. Only thing that is comes out of the bleeder is the fluid. I don't know whats wrong with it.

youre not disconnecting the fluid line are you?

the bleeding is first done by pushing in the valve near where the slave cyl line goes in with a screwdriver..only air should come out of there..maybe a little fluid but not much.
 






Everything is hooked together fulid line and all. We are using the bleeder screw up on the side of the tranny. Its a 5/16 thing and you loosen it and fluid comes out. Maybe I am using the wrong one. ITs the only thing i see under there

leave the bleeder screw alone until the last step.

look in a shop manual or look on the tranny with a flashlight..theres a little flat valve in the side which you push in with a screwdriver to let air out when the pedal is pushed. youre not getting a pedal because the fluid is just being pushed out from the screw. You need to bleed it with the valve first, then just before youre worn out from doing that, loosen the screw and bleed it like that once..make sure fluid comes out when the pedal is pushed, ..then tighten it before releasing the pedal and its bled.

Yes I am curious too!!! What are you talking about? The only two things I see down there are the inspection hole, the line that comes from the master and the bleeder screw. Can you tell us in what direction to look for this???

Maybe the M5OD from '93 is different from the manual trans in the 95-97+?

I just followed the procedure I found in the factory manuals. I'll go over it tonight and give a better description or draw a diagram or something.

If the transmissions are different tho, the procedure might not be the same for both.

yes, I believe the trannies are different. I know the autos from those years are definitely different
