Ok here's maybe a new one with the mazda 5 speed. Had the clutch, master and slave replaced about a year ago. The thing got better but not perfect, up until about two months ago. Now when I drive a couple of hours on the highway (not much shifting going on, pretty constant speed) I will go to change gears and it's like when the slave failed but worse. All gears are tough to get into and when I have to stop (leave it in gear with clutch to floor) if I let off brakes it will move forward on flat land. Not losing any fluid, just bled system, and if I let it sit a few hours things are fine. WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone seen this before? I have it in trans shop now and they are saying collapsing pressure plate. I don't understand, Help!!!

Just a guess: The "fingers" the throwout bearing pushes against may have some missing or worn. Maybe the bearing itself is bad. It sounds like temperature plays a part. I guess that the answers will come out when they pull it all apart and look in. Expensive diagnosis, but they can probably solve it right then and there.
Good luck

That is what I am thinking also. I have always been told never to sit with it in gear with the clutch in because it will wear the throwout bearing too fast.

you know I had the same problem and it all started after i put in a new clutch and slave cylinder. then i had to put in a new engine after that it never had that problem again, i think that when i did the slave i didn't get the transmission stabbed in exactely right and that was causing my problems like i said once i got it stabbed right problem went away.

Did you get the pilot bearing replaced? if you got the slave cylinder replaced you got the throw out bearing replaced, theyre one piece. It sounds like the slave clinder isn't fully disengaging. The pedal doesnt feel mushy when it does this?

I've had similar on several Fords. In each case it was the pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft seizing onto the input shaft. It's a bummer because you have to drop the box to get at it.
