okay ive done a little looking around and research on putting cobra brakes on the front end of my explorer. theres a set on ebay right now with the 13" calipers. has anyone actually try to put them on with 16" rims? cause i really want these! i cant stand how bad my brakes suck! they lock up at the little things and dont stop worth a sh*t. and i know its not my pads! thanks.

should be, i mean there the same bolt pattern and all and most others have said it will work, unless im reading the threads wrong (entirly possible)

i meant what about the way the calipers mount? the amount of line pressure needed to operate them, etc.... size of things is one thing, but operation mechanics is another story....

eh, i can make em work ;)

Yeah, If you are 4WD or AWD you have two piece rotors that the newer Cobra stuff will fit right on. The calipers are another matter. You'll have to fabricate a bracket to mount it. Everything I've seen shows that you need at least 17" wheels to clear the calipers....

rizzo? 2 piece rotors? huh?

yeah im still not sure what this means i even have replaced my own front discs and havent seen this yet. this is what im lookin at Dead Link Removed dont bid against me if i decide to try it! it looks like a good winter project for me.

2WD's have a one piece hub and rotor assembly.
Late model 4WD and AWD's have a two piece hub and rotor assembly.
Mustangs also have a two piece hub and rotor assembly, so the rotor from a cobra R will slide right over your wheels studs and fit, no problem. The issue is remounting the caliper.

Troll had 13.5 inch Brembos custom made, and because it's a 2WD, the rotors are one piece:

Here is a 4 piston, 13 inch Alcon on an AWD saleen:

Tarheel- you can PROBABLY run 16" wheels with them. we swapped Cobra brakes on the front of my friend's 99 GT, and i remember there being around 1/2" of clearance between the caliper and his 17's. you may have to grind a little off of the caliper, but 16's may work. of course, it would depend on the wheel thickness, and if there is some kind of "hump" on the inside of the wheel. i would be much more concerned with making a caliper bracket.
