Cobras and Pricing

Yeah - real as they come... I don't remember ever seeing any without them...

Guess I will be making a call tomorrow to find out the difference...

Maybe mine arent real? I'm 99.999% sure they are. When did you get yours? Mine are less than a year old... well I bought them less than a year ago. I dont know exactly when they were made.

Let me know what you find out.

i have said this before- "real" and "fake" Cobra R's are the same wheel. they are made on the same assembly line, out of the same materials, to the same specs. the only difference is the centercaps and the box they come it. the same company makes ALL OF THEM.

with that said, i think CobraXP has some of the older CobraR's. i have a friend with some R replicas on his 96 Cobra, and they have that number stamp on them. mine are also replicas, and dont have the # stamps. his are about 6 years old, mine are about 1.5 yrs. old.

Mine have the cobra R center caps and came in ford racing boxes. what does that mean?

it means you have the "real" ones. im about 98% sure the #'s near the valve stem is how they used to come... "real" or "fake". then around 97 or so they just took them off. if you have some made after this time, the wont have them. this is just going on the old ones my friend has, and other's ive seen.

the only real difference in the 95 Cobra Rs and the 98 cobras is that the spoke on the 98s has more curve on it.

I bought mine in late '97 or early '98 - can't remember. They should be some of the earlier manf. dated as james t explained...

Magic - is that your Cobra? I have a few friends running the R's on back and the 17x8 SVT on the front like that one... Looks good!!

I wish it was my Cobra!!!

I think that looks kinda dumb with 2 different wheels on it.

well it seems the cobras will have to wait...
insurance was intent on putting the stock (yet more expensive  ) and rims and tires back on (never really thought they would go for the cobras anyway) and now my cobras funds go towards paying the insurance deductable.
oh well, time to begin saving again....

98's cheaper than 95's

I think the reason that the 98's are cheaper than the 95's is b/c they are not as popular. They dont have that deeper look like the 95's do. They have a more positive offset. The 95's are still in high demand be it replicas or original motorsport rims. If you look at the majority of the ads out there, they advertise more on the 95 "replicas than the OE 98 cobra rims. Hope this helps a little. :D
