Pulled a 214 code on my 94 ex limited 4.0.
checked the sensor connectors. all are ok .
On the cam sensor the plastic piece where the wires go through
is seperated from the sensor .could this be bringing up this code ?
also could any one tell me if the engine wire harness off a 94 Ex xlt
will fit a 94 Ex limited .The back yard wannabe mech.
I bought my Ex from Broke all the locks on all the sensors wire ends.
I would love to change the engine wire harness. but dont know
what will fit. Any one have any idea . Ex runs great . just have the
check engine light on.

the broken part of the cam sensor could be part of the issue with the code, I'm not too familiar with the cylinder identification part of our trucks.

As far as the locks/connectors/harness stuff, you can switch out the individual connector ends pretty easy, the actual metal terminals slide out of them with just a little effort with a set of small picks or a tiny flat head screw driver. I've even been able to get them with the tip of a pocket knife in an emergency before. Easier than switching out the harness because you can do a couple at a time when you have time, and you don't have to worry about something being different on the donor harness.

A 94 should fit a 94 assuming same trans and emissions (cali vs. federal). There aren't separate wiring diagrams for limited vs xlt.

fix the cam sensor, cid is done when ckp and cmp align, its not getting one of the signals, you said the cmp is bad, fix that it should fix it.

I have the same code, and a broken cam sensor. I just can't get hold of a cam sensor to replace it with, nor does it look possible without at least removing the upper intake. So I'm going to live with it for now.

I just replaced my engine and I had several codes, Silly me did some silly things like seal the temp sensor so it had no ground... blah blah blah. Fixed them all. It starts real good and runs ok, but now I can not stand the CID code. I assume this it the cam sensor is end of the shaft that spins the oil pump? The conector looked pretty abused. Any help is welcome before I shell out more cash or spend 1/2 a day at the pick and pull :) thx
