I took the x in because that engine light was on. The papaerwork says diagnostics returned the following codes: P1507, P0230 and P0240. The replace the IAC (?) and said my converters were bad. I think the quote was over $2k to relace converters. For the code interpeters what do these codes tell you. I surely am resisting spending over $2k for catalytic converters. Would that price include the entier exhaust too? Shsssh....

Those are kinda strange codes you got there, I will leave those for the "experts" here to interpret for ya.

I wonder why they even mentioned the cats, since your codes don't look to be emission/o2 related. Either way, $2K is crazy for new cats. A reputable muffler shop could replace those for MUCH less.

P1507
Idle Air Control Underspeed Error

P0230
Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Malfunction

P0240
Turbocharger Boost Sensor B Circuit Range/Performance

Yeah I thought so to. Because my engine light came on again I went by Midas and they also quoted about $2k for replacement for both cats. From what the midas guy showed and told me, universal cats won't fit so special order 'OEM' were required. It's hard for me to believe that Midas uses OEM but that is what he told me. After hearing this I was affraid to let him touch it.

Nonsense; go somewhere else.

When was that installed? :D

Okay,okay, I got the message.

Any thoughts on a reputable shop to check this out?

Thanks this should prove to be beneficial for future use.

Acoording to Auto Zone the current code is P0430 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). I guess a tune-up is in order.

Thanks all for steering me in the right direction

Wouldnt hurt to do a tune up but I think what you may need is a new O2 sensor. The one before the Cat on the passenger side. I would defenatly have it looked at by someone other than Midas.

I had another mechanic look at this and they suggested I needed a cat replacement for $299. I went with it since there was some consistency with what I was told by the dealer in the beginning. I just can't believe what the dealer wanted to charge me for this. Midas on the other hand... I am not totally surprised. Although I must be honest, Midas did give the estimate based on replacing both converters, but even so...
