2005 Ford Explorer
Hi! I found you guys because I am looking for answers. Found the one that I wanted. 2005 Explorer. Love it! Problem..... from the second week I had it I got a check fuel cap light. Been back to the dealer 5 times (luckily they had given me a 30 day 1000 mile warranty so all of this is on them) finally got them to do a smoke test, canister vent solenoid replaced. Light not on. Get gas on Friday, take 100 mile road trip, check engine light comes on. Next morning fuel cap light back on. Back to the dealer, tells us that there is nothing wrong sith the vehicle, just cycling through codes. Is there REALLY nothing wrong with my vehicle? I am just a regular gal who would expect that after a dealer has had me vehicle 5 times, I would not be having ANY warning lights. Can anyone shed light on this?
Thanks so much!

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

I would say there is something wrong with it. I have never heard of "cycling through the codes". Did you get the codes read? Local auto parts stores will usually do this for free.

ok so now they have replaced the catalytic converter and continue to tell me that it is not going through the "6th test" it passes 5 but not the 6th. I am beyond irate. why can't they find out what is wrong? I told them that if I was a paying customer, I would expect that I would pick my vehicle up and have it fixed. Not pick it up and 4 days later I have the light on again. This is a Chevy dealer, not a Ford dealer, but I can't see how that makes that much of a difference. The problem is with the vehicle, not the brand of vehicle. Can anybody help?
