here is the problem....

I have been getting a check engine light that comes and goes. it only comes on when i'm driving anymore then 55mph and then will go away for a few min. then come back. It does not stay on constantly. I went and bought a code reader and have have pulled the code from it. It comes up with code 341(octane adjust service pin open). I have tested it now 6 times just to make sure i wasn't doing something wrong, and get the same code each time.

Any clue as to what the heck this code means and is something i can tackle? this is the only hard code it is giving me. the vehicle runs great, no problems noticed.

oh yeah 94 explorer with an slop-o-matic tranny. thanks for any help that anyone can give me

Long time ago.

OK, A longtime ago I had the same issue on my 94 explorer. Thought it was the O2 sensors, but I changed the Fuel Pressure regulator the fuel filter and the O2's all at the same time.

I think it was the fuel pressure regulator, try that first and see if it helps.

Good Luck.

I would disconnect the battery to reset it. Especially if its intermintent. Then check the codes. I had a similar problem and mine turned out to be the Fuel pressure reg also.

thanks guys for the input. anyone else wanna chime in is more than welcome to also. I work at a parts store and have asked a ton of people what this could be and even the guys at ford are flaborgasted. i'm going to try a couple of things tongiht and see if it does anything otherwise i'm going try the pressure regulator. thanks
Bryan
