I just bought a code scanner and tried running for codes. I did pull codes but im a little unsure of a few things!

I had a shop read for codes a few months ago and they did find a code(DPFE code), im trying to find out if the code im reading now is a stored code or a new code? Here is what i got...

beep,beep,beep....pause...beep,beep,beep

Longer pause

beep... pause... beep,beep,beep

longer pause

beep, beep, beep

Now, the booklet says it will read codes twice. So, is the first code two codes done twice, making it a system pass code or is it a code 33? I do know the last code is sytem pass? So this would mean the first two codes would be stored codes from the past, correct?

It's just a little unclear and the booklet does not go into great detail! :(

Thanks

Don

I looked at dalidesigns set up page for reading OBD-1 codes (http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html). Looks like the first set of beep beep beep 's is for the hard faults (111 system ok) then the seperator pulse then another series of 111's. I could be wrong, but I thought at a certain point (at the latest '92 because that's what I've got) they went to three digit instead of two digit codes. In other words, I don't think you'd get a two digit code.

No, the booklet says it will read two and three digit code.

But im still uncertain of which codes i pulled? Is the first code a system pass code? Or code 33?

Basicly i want to know is...are the first two codes old codes or new codes? Im guessing so, because the third code is a system good code.(111)or(11)

Here is what i gather:

First code is code 33 or system pass?

Second code is code 13(RPM out of Specification)

third code is system pass!

I read in the code scanner booklet that the system will run codes twice!! So if you missed them the first time you can get them the second time.

Im totally lost here guys, more help please. :)

Don, I never could read those darned codes either. Confused the heck out of me. Next time my CEL comes on I'm getting an auto x-ray. For 150 bucks or so they tell you in plain english what is wrong with the truck.

Hey Jason, yes these damn scanners are a pain in the ass!

I looked at the Auto X-ray, but they want $200 for the scanner i need. :(

In '95 the Ford EEC IV system will put out 3 digit codes. What your codes are saying is that the first code "111" repeat "111" means taht there are not present "running" codes. Then you have the separator code "1", then you get the next set of codes for your memory capture "111" repeat "111" which means you don't have any codes in memory either. In other words, your system has no codes either while running nor in memory (system pass).

Thanks
