anyone running coilovers, what srping rates do you run (main/tender) or what would be good for a 4.0 explorer with a ttb? obviously i need something to be flexy but i don't know which numbers are good. whatever Paul be is running, would probably work perfect for me.

I'd imagine somewhere around 400/500 or so, maybe a little softer if you're gearing it towards the slow, flexy stuff more than go-fast stuff.

I bought mine 5 over 6, but never got to try it out......boo hoo. Wanna buy my one coilover?

i was thinkin more like 300 over 400, but i think the rock crawlers go even softer :dunno:

3 over 4 would probably actually work for you, but with your habits, you need these.

of course i need those, but the question wiht that is should i get 4" stroke or 2.5" stroke?

Go with the 4" and use them. What coilovers are you gonna run? Please say king!

LOL Why king???? All the major brands work the same. IMO KIng is only for the bling bling name.

Not true. King's 2.5 coilovers are top quality. I would not put procomp's up against them!

LOL now come on you know i wasnt talking about procomp of ***tech with that comment. Fox, SAW, Radflo, and King are all equal in quality and performance. Besides its not the brand name of the shocks, its how you tune it to your vehicle. I for one will be going with FOA just to prove a point to any doubters. FOA is based on King shocks. The owner used to work with Bill King back in the days. Damn good shocks, and all King rebuild kits work inside these shocks so that has to say something about the similarity of design.

similarity of design is a far cry from actual quality. lotus designed the suspensions on hyundais a while back, that didn't make the jap car a lotus....I would call it this way

1.Bilstein
2.King
3.Fox
4(a distant 4th)SAW
and then radflo, foa and all the other "similarly built" companies. There is a whole lot to be said for customer care, build quality(and I'm talking about the guy building them, not the design.
There's also a whole level of custom shocks above all that.
Mike smith, Walker evans, Chris thompson, They will all build you a custom coilover that will blow off the shelf crap out of the water. But here's the difference, When my kings weren't valved right, they revalved them. over and over again, until they were right.

Then buy them used, and rebuild. I would rather have a used lotus than a new hyundai.....

You could also use 16's. I can get you a great deal on 1!

Just open the hood up. It will look badass. It's what I was gonna do.

Kit shmit. Get wild. go custom. Ibeam it!
