Yeah but numbers that high and it starts to get real dirty, thats why the nickname "dirty hooker travel". LOL. Ill end up with about 18" and it will get raced eventually.

No way. J arms and coilovers with hydro bumps all day. Dirty hookers are the guys with 7 inch over equals and rubber bushings. No offense, but if your front end cycles a whole 18 inches, I'll get drunk and do something irresponsible.

His kit cycles about 17" metal to metal. Its been beat on pretty damn good too. 16-17 in the front and the same in the rear and ill be happy.

please don't take this the wrong way even though i'm sure it will get blown out of proportion-
first king shocks are definately the most popular shock out there, are they the best, i don't think so..the internals on most high quality shocks all use viton seals and heat treated parts that being said why spend the money to have your shocks say King when you can get the same quality shock for less, not to mention that all the King rebuild kits are outrageously priced compared to other brands when you get exactly the same parts...
secondly, i doubt anyone who spends the time to make a custom setup +7 a side with a j-arm hydro bumps coilovers and probably a bypass will run rubber bushings..it's heims all day long..and honestly i'd take a truck built correctly that pulls 18 inches with tuned shocks over a poorly built one that pulls 22..baker motorsports built an explorer that pulled 23 and raced it against trophy trucks and needless to say it's no longer being raced anymore..nothing against baker but it's just not feasable to build an explorer with that kind of travel unless you have an unlimited budget and you can afford to sideline your truck for months.

What up man...You gonna be there today?

yeah heading over around 4:30

SHEESH, i WAS WONDERING HOW THIS THREAD GOT SO LONG SO QUICK, oops on the capslock...

BTW: my kit is made to run 10" shocks and pulls 16.5 at best Sean...no more drinking at lunch for you.;)

Oooops my bad, wow i guess i should lay off huh?? I didnt realize how bad i was till i just had to answer the phone lol.....DAMNT

ttb is good for me cause im 4wd. i-beams seem to work well but all the trophy trucks are a-armed. spend enough money and anything will work good.

so whats wrong with SAW coilovers? i was hoping to go with SAWs, cause i don't like fox and king is just a bling, show off, ego "you bro look at my kings!" thing to me. although if im getting BTF to setup the coilovers, maybe i should check prices on radflos?

4" bump stops would be great for high speed, but it limit how much i can tuck/flex, no?

yeah sounds like you're stuck if you're 4wd..most trophy trucks are a-armed b/c they just cycle better than beamed trucks it's not a radial cycle which allows for better landings and IMO better overall performance...sway away puts out real good shocks so you won't really go wrong there but yeah like you said check the price on Radflo's (i'm happy with mine so far) you'll definitely be able to save some cash without sacrificing any performance...and usually if you're running hydro bumps you should be using your truck for desert type/prerun setting so if crawling/flexing is the use for your truck you might not want to waste the money on bumps

well i definitly do my share of prerun stuff and getting the wheels off the ground (note my avatar) and i've seen alot of crawlers with hydro bumps. im just wondering if haveing a 2" stroke bump would help give me a "best of both worlds" thing like im going for. help control landings and hard impacts/bottum outs but still be ably to tuck the wheel up a fare amount when rock crawling

R.J. I've got 200 over 250 on my 2.5x14 Kings and it seems pretty good for crawling. I've never ran any other spring rates on these C/O's so I have nothing to compare them too. Did a little wash mobbin' at Oco last trip, it was for the most part flat but still seemed to soak up a few of the smaller whoop sections nicely...not a pre-runner by any means. Not sure why but I hear TTB's like a stiffer spring rate than solid axles, maybe it's a leverage thing or lack therof.

I was in no way associating the j-arm, hydro bump truck with the 7 inches over dirty hooker. I was making the differentiation. I was saying that a lot of the bro-nation will just sleeve a set of 2WD ibeams, and extend the **** out of them for travel, and still use stock bushings.

my truck is on extended beams with stock rubber bushings...who cares? they're cheap & they do the job.

As far as shock selection, pick a color you like & go with it...revalve to your liking & you'll be golden. I have old SAW's on my truck and they are fine, they leak a little, but they're old...a truck I just set up has a brand new leaky king, and an older leaky king & two other ones that don't leak a bit (one old, one new)

they're all on par w/ each other.

and RJ: what size shocks are you looking into? i'll get you pricing.

thats why i wanted saws, cause i like the color :D

dang 200/250 would be real soft for me. but i would hate to build something only good at high speeds and find out that it doesn't flex worth crap. knowing me, i'll probably end up getting a set of springs and later changing them. i always seem to change everything  haha

btf, you use stock style bushings? your the man! now i don't feel so lame about not having heims
