ok that makes more sense! i couldn't actually believe you were running bushings on your r/a's. i still am, but if autofab gets 16" of travel with them, then thats probably the best i can do anyways.

according to chad McNeil, the prime spring rate for explorers/rangers is 350/450 with 15/12 valving. a good spring rate, i think, for crawling would be 250/350 or maybe even 200/300. so i think im looking at 300/400 for me, but im not sure if i'll get the flex i want

so go 250-400. There's no rule that says they can only be a hundred pounds apart.....

still, the 400 is the part i wouldn't be able to stuff with just the waight of the vehicle. i could go 300/350

Just FYI most edge/explorer long travel kits use a 500/600 rate on a 10" coilover or a single 600-650lb spring on an 8" coilover...but like you said if it's not going to be strictly a desert truck you might want to go a little lighter especially if you're going to do some crawling

a-armed trucks run higher rates than beamed trucks, cause of the angles i think. im gonna try 300/400 even though i know its high for rock crawling. but if it flex's just as well as my old coilspring setup, i guess thats good enough

most ranger/expo "lift" coils are around 500 lbs. so I'm sure yours will be flexy enough.

I'm by no means knowledgeable about spring rates and whatnot, but since you're getting airbumps to cushion bottoming out at high-speed stuff, can't you run a softer spring for rockcrawling? So in other words, the bumps will make up for the stiffness you'd lose with a softer spring. I hope that makes sense...

i think im goin with 300/400 and ill see how they work for me. FatCat runs 250/350 so my semi desert truck should be good right at 3/4. and since ill hae airbumps, i probably can't get to much stuff with any spring rate. but the navajo is no rock buggy, its just an all around fun run car. so it'll be fine and its proven itself plenty with just coilsprings.
