Cold starting problem

Hey guys hope that some one can give me some direction here. This is the second time that my x has done this…
It only happened went the weather conditions are just right or wrong in this situation… Yesterday it rained all day and it was around 38°, later that night the temp drooped to around to 14° of courts frizzing all the residual rain…
This has been the weather conditions both times this has occurred…
I try to start my x. It hits a few times tries to start then dyes completely. Try to start it a second and third time each time less progress than the time before. The only way it will start is to open the throttle about 30% crank it and it will start… but I have to keep it around 3000 rpms for ~15 seconds then every thing is fine. When it does finely start the engine smells extremely rich… this leads me to believe that the EFI system is flooding the engine at the first attempt…
Does any one know where to “start” on this one? My guess would be a sensor maybe the intake temp sensor ???
This is not a huge problem but I would like to get it fixed….
Thanks guys

It sounds like it's your Idle Air Controller going bad.

I agree with spieg16. same thing happened to me, 45 bucks and 15 min later, she was running fine!

Thanks guys this sounds like a logical explanations.
Now, where is the controller located on an shoc engine? Does anyone have pics? I probably could find it myself, but I currently live in an apt., thus no garage, and don’t want to bear the 20° temps looking for it…:D
Also can you pick it up at any auto store?

remove the plastic SOHC cover on the top of the engine and you should see it right under there

Thanks again guys looks like i will only be in the cold about 10 minits...

Literally!
