Up here it is reaching -20c and lately it seems my throttle cable is sticking, i have lubed it but doesn't seem to get down cable from throttle body area. I let the truck warm up with floor heat and it seems to loosen up after awhile. I do have a leak in windshield that does go into dash that is why i think it is freezing . Question is , is it the cable itself and should replace or is it maybe electronic. Also i have noticed that after i get off highway in this extreme cold my brakelight and anti lock will come on at stop lights. It only does this in extreme cold.Level seems to be ok. thanks.

Did some searching and found out shouldn't lube cable and it is about 50 cdn to replace , will do that this weekend. brake lite is o.k now , it was the level ..

get your leaky windshield fix and replace the cable...

Hey man. I had a problem like that too the other couple of days and it was cold here too. really F'in cold. I know what you mean! Before you replace your cable make sure that you have looked at it thorougly. i mean get some one to push the throttle while you observe what is happening under the hood. if the throttle is moving freely, you may want to suspect the throttle position sensor to be at fault. that is, if it is idling high. I have noticed my anti lock light comes on too in the cold but after restarting it, it goes away. i would suspect the TPS to be at fault before anything if it idles funny in the cold, but like i say, make sure the cable is responding. if you have more info about the condition, shoot it my way cause we have been plauged with temps at around -50 C with the windchill and i have noticed conditions with my truck too that i have been able to pinpoint. Later, Dan

I get this too!

My throttle cable sticks a bit when it's WAY COLD outisde. Never in the summer or warm weather, only in the extreme cold (well below freezing). I've been meaning to look at the throttle cable.... but it's always really cold. Catch 22 I guess.....

I noticed there was a recall on the throttle cable , i didn't get it as i bought used ,but the cable is sticky but i keep the heat on floor for about 5 minutes without toching pedal and it will work its way free ,before i was opening hood and moving the cable back out of high idle manually. I wonder if it is the censor or something in the extreme cold ,i find it will only do it if it is -20c or so. Check your fluid level for antilock lite coming on, the fluid must shrink in extreme cold to set off sensor. I have a new cable but to cold right now to change , by the time i get around to changing it hopefully it will be warm and sunny.

How can a guy from california know about frozen throttle cable(just joking man) I still don't understand how my windsheild leaks though , i have puttied the sucker up ,

and you ask from "Fresno" too in the middle of the state where during the summer we get 100+ and winter when it is 40 and it is freezing! lol Anyway, we do have moutains at higher elevation 10K ft elevation could get pretty cold at night!

If the cable have a recall, it doesn't matter how old or how many mile the truck has. The stealership will fix free of charge! I would print out the recall and bring it alone with you when you go to the service center at your local stealership. I had to do that with my 91 Chubby Blazer on the seatbelts recall.

Windshield it a tought one to fix. I had mine replaced and can't figure out where the wind noise come from. I took it back to the shop and all they did was spray some windshield cleaner around the edge of the winshield and use an air gun and blow around the edge to see the bubble coming from the air. They couldn't find any but smuttered the edge with **** load of those black chalking. Theres no leak buy still hear the wind noise. I guessed, I'll live with it or turn up the radio.

It has been pretty warm lately and no problems , see if you wait long enough the problem goes away or you turn up radio.
