Column Shifter

I have a 1993 Aerostar 3.0 with the 4-speed A4LD. I bought her new and consider her part of my family. I have a lot of play in my shifter lever. I tried adjusting the cable but it is still very loose. I would like to replace the shifter thing on the steering column and the shift lever. I have no idea where to get the part or what it is actually called. It is dangerous for the children to drive since sometimes if you don't wiggle it just right Park is actually reverse.
Any help with her would be appreciated.
