Most of you have read the thread on oil that involved the oil analysis on the synthetic oil. One of the items in question was the elevated nitration level. My most recent oil analysis (and everyone prior for 2 years running) has had the same issue. I consulted the technical department at AMSOIL about this and they believe something is not controlling the combustion temps properly. The last time I had the Explorer checked for codes, everything was fine. The EGR valve has been the suspected culprit but it showed to be opening and closing properly. Could the EGR show to be OK through the computer and still not be functioning properly? Any other ideas on what could be happening?
