Where is a good place to install the tweeters in a component system in my 95 explorer. I dont really want them in the stock door location and I would rather not use kick panels. Is there any other place that you guys have used that has worked well? Just want to ask some opinions before I put down the cash on some comps.

I don't have these myself, but I know a guy here at school who has his tweeters in the dashboard of his 95. If your 95 EB has a dashboard similar to the 95 XLT, then you may want to consider this. He put his tweeters flush mounted in the black plastic of the dashboard near the windshield. It's a really clean looking install, and unless you know they are there, you can't see them from inside the truck. But you can surely hear them!!! I sure miss the dash speakers I had in my old Ranger. They sounded so much better and louder than the door speakers in the Explorer. I plan to mount my tweeters in the dash when I get them. Just an idea.

I put mine on the top of the door panel where it comes up in the top corner. This gets them facing the ears pretty good and they don't look out of place.

tweeters where?

I still firmly believe in the technicians who develop speakers. The tweeters are meant to be the same distance from your ears as the mids in a component set. By putting them in the door panel corner, you're inadvertantly playing with the imaging. While you're in the stereo store, see if they sound good while standing at an angle roughly representative of the angle from the door panel to your ear. That's all the demonstration you should need.

If you do put them in the door panel corner, buy extra strength advil, cuz your headaches will be tremendous.

Of course if they drown out a woman's whining, that might be something to think about.......
