i've got a compression test kit i bought 2 years ago. used it once on a mk4 Jetta lol..

Haven't really found a DIY on it, do i need to pull any fuses so the fuel pump doesn't start while i'm testing compression?

Don't wanna pay want to learn. If compression numbers come out good possibly look into getting valves cleaned up.

disable ignition & fuel pump

1. Run the engine until warm.
2. Disable ignition by disconnecting the coilpack connector.
3. Disable the fuel pump by removing fuel pump relay in the battery junction box.
4. Position the throttle plate to WOT and fix in that position.
5. Remove all spark plugs and attach adapter to cylinder to test.
6. Crank starter for several compressions on cylinder being tested. Usually after 4 or 5 compressions the value will quit increasing. Some people only remove one spark plug and leave the others in place.
7. Record compression for each cylinder. Values should not vary more than 5% from average and average should be greater than a minimum determined by compression ratio.

I installed an under the hood remote crank switch: Remote crank control installation

Thank you so much and i'm going to wait til I find one of those remote cranks that way I don't have to have two people.
