Computer Tuners

OK. Anyone have advice/experience with computer tuners?

I have a 01 XLT AWD with 5.0L engine.

Before embarking on intake, header, exhaust mods I wanted to start with a relatively inexpensive upgrade by buying a computer tuner, not a chip, to get the most out of my 302 engine. I have found a tuner (Diablo Predator) made by Granatelli Motorsports (Mustang drag racer) that seems to do what I want and is priced well ($325 plus-minus) compare with other tuners. The nice thing about this tuner is that I can also correct the speedo for tire size when I upgrade to 31s.

What's the best thinking out there?

Please note I am 40 years old and my first car had a 350 cid with a 4 barrel carbeurator so this computerized fuel injection stuff is new to me. So please be specific and clear. I'm not up on all the abbreviated lingo.

Would appreciate also hearing about what performance upgrades that mustang owners do to 302s are also applicable to X owners.

I own and use a SCT Tuner ( Flasher ). It was programmed for me by Apten.

i also recomend the sct flasher from one of the dealers here on the board. there are a couple of us like me that have tuned explorers in the past.
