Is the pinstripe supposed to be in line with the door handle on a 98? I have a small section between the door handle and the door edge on all four doors.

After removing one section there is an outline that will not go away with rubbing compound even. It appears like clear coat was put on after the stripe was applied or something, maybe the car was repainted?

EDIT : Looked on Ebay at some and it appears that some of them are in line with the door handle and some above. I dont know why, but I guess its somewhat "normal" to have them in line.

My 1996 Explorer passenger doors were repainted along a factory door stripe. I guess it is a common practice.

Might depend on the year. My 96 had it above the door handle.

My 96 Xlt has stripes right under the edge of the body crease that is above the door handles

Mine were inline with the door handles. It could be that parts of your truck were repainted and they used the pinstripe as a line to stop paint.

I can still see where my pinstripe was in the right light at the right angle and I've had it off for over a year.
