Hey everyone,

I'm at a bit of a loss here. Having issues with my 94 OHV ranger intermittently sputtering and stalling when in gear at low to mid rpm (700 to 2500).

I briefly took it in and had the shop diagnose it, they said its the Camshaft Position Sensor.

I have a parts motor out of a 94 explorer and quickly located the sensor and removed it on that.

Pulled the intake plenum out of the ranger and went digging behind the motor but all I could find was a cap where the sensor should be.

Now I've only owned this truck about 2 years, Maybe the previous owners put an older motor in. Or did the rangers of this year not come with the sensor?

Either way I still have the issue, any thoughts?

93.5 up CA emissions ranger had the camshaft position sensor.

I think what may have happened is the last owner put in an older motor since the 94 should have the syncro but this motor does not.
It came with a spare which may have been the original. I recycled it as the block was cracked.
If your ranger is a california emissions then it should have the camshaft position sensor. The calibration code on the ecu would shed some light on the older engine swap theory.
