2001 ford explorer xlt
Hey guys new to the forum.

I have a 2001 explorer xlt and decided to run 2 16 gauge speaker wires through the (mallox I believe it's called) connector to run active speakers in the front. So I removed it, drill for wires through connector NO wires at all were effected by drilling I was very careful. I put everything back together and check all door locks and Windows every thing works on the inside. Went to work the next day locked the keys in car like always( I use the outside keypad religiously). After work I put code in and nothing happends at all. Now this is the factory key code that the woman gave to me when I bought it ( I also checked the RAP module to ensure code). All buttons work and the interior lights come on after I touched each individual number to make sure they worked.

Any one have any opinions on what I can do to fix it. I tried reseting it a couple times but I can't get it to work so by me unplugging that connector must have reset something else.
All ideas are welcome.

Simply unplugging the connector does not "reset" anything. You must have broken a wire somehow.

So the best action is to take the connector back apart and try to find a loose wire. Or live without the key pad. I don't get how the keypad works even pressing the last 2 buttons at the same time which locks all the door works. So why won't it except the key code and unlock?

All the key pads illuminate when pressed. I even pressed each button and watched the interior light come on after I pressed the button( I let the light cut off after each button also). Has anyone took the connector apart then tried to use the key pad with success.
