Anyone know if a continuity test description like this one

Is the same for a 2nd generation explorer? I have the same colored wires but on the 2nd generation exploror the shifter motor is only used for range selection. I hope so I just took out my shift motor and realigned the position sensor until I got the condition described in this guide for 2wd on my 95 Explorer XLT 4 door.
