ControlTrac 4x4 front driveshaft

I have a 97 4x4 control trac. I would like to remove the front drive shaft and possibly leave it out if it is the cause of my front end noise.

Will leaving the front DS out cause any problems with the front differential?

I know the noise is not coming from the hubs as I replaced them recently. The roaring noise has progressively gotten worse over the last year or so. I have plenty of fluid in the front diff as well, I have never ran it dry. I am thinking its the front diff making the noise.

Any input is appreciated.

taking your front ds off isnt going tto hurt anything, but there were a couple situations with peoples trucks rolling away when parked.. read the threads on that! id just find the problem instead of takin stuff off LOL

I appreciate the comment fixing whats wrong, but with 194k on the odometer and a salavage value of $1100, its not economically feasible to put anymore than gas and oil in this thing.
