Convert XLT to autolamps?

I have an 08 XLT Explorer that does not have the auto lamp feature. I see that it is a option for these trucks that the previous owner did not get. Does anyone have an idea on how much of a hassle this would be to add? Can I just put in a new switch and it would work?

Welcome! What does the light switch look like?

On the far left it has the fog light symbol and then it has the lamps off symbol as well as the parking light symbol and headlamp symbol on the right. It does not have the auto lamp symbol that should be to the left of the lamps off circle.

Hmm... It sounds like an expensive option. There are aftermarket kits too, but it sounds like you would need a new switch assembly, sensor and possibly pigtails, maybe a relay and fuse if you go with a stock set up.

I have it on mine stock, it's worth having... check out. Google auto lamp, there has to be a kit or call the dealer May be someone has installed one here... let's see...

Autolamp Feature

Thanks for the links. I have one of the local dealerships looking into it but so far they are coming up blank. Basically the autolamp was included in the "convenience package" so I figured it wouldn't be all that difficult to add after the fact. The previous owner got the leather seats and sunroof but skimped on something that is pretty basic. I'll look into the DEI option if the dealership can't come up with anything.
