coolant filter

I run h/d and m/d diesels where I work,we us coolant filters due to the problem of electrolis in the cooling system. Mainly, the cylinders are sleeved, diesel is not as refined as gas. We use a test strip to check Ph to determine pre-filter treatment. If you use the newer 50/50 coolant and keep a watch on the Ph in the fluid a filter should not be needed.

Dude!!

Never would have thought of that. And that is a relatively newer car. I hate to think of what is living in my coolant. I don't want to know.

its a good idea

know what i think is INSANE, on my 92, the windshield washer filler has a strainer like thing when you open it, wouldn't want any thing in there, but the Coolant filler doesn't have any kind of strainer to catch unwanted objects from entering the coolant resivoir. thats backasswards if u ask me.

ALDIVE, dude, you are the king of all add-ons for explorers. This device will do nothing for you that a coolant change wont. water jackets and passages in your motor are HUGE. I've never even heard of radiator/water jacket failure due to sediment/dirt in a radiator that was even remotely maintained when I worked for GM - Or ever in a gas motor for that matter. If anything, looks like it could restrict flow some. Just change your coolant more often than the manual says if you have those nagging worries.
