Hi everybody! Just got my first truck! Am excited to be a Ford owner! I need some help . . Thanks!

Recently, I have noticed that my coolant level has been dropping down between the maximum and minimum lines on my 2006 Ranger. My local dealership has added coolant on two occasions. I have not seen any coolant on the floor of my garage nor have I seen any in or around the engine area. My understanding is that all of the hoses are fine. A pressure tester was used the last time that my truck was in for an oil change. Could the reservoir cap be the problem? I was told to keep an eye on the level in the reservoir. It continues to drop very slowly.

Welcome to Explorer Forum! It's what...100 degrees in South Carolina? I would chalk it up to heat. I would keep an eye on it, but the main thing to look at is the radiator. Check it before you crank it up and head out to work in the morning. Check it again before you head home from work. If that is droping, then you have a problem worth worrying about. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help! Will keep an eye on it.

Initially, I thought that heat may be a problem as well. Is it normal to have to add coolant every so often, especially during the hot months of the year?

I had similar happen to me. It turns out I had a small leak around the temp sender. I only noticed it because I saw some antifreeze just around the temp sender. Wiggle it around, it should not wiggle and turn freely. I was loosing coolant too very slowly, but enough to drop it below my minimum line when cold. Always check when cold, because soon as the truck warms up the coolant line will be higher.

Good Luck

Thanks for the help! It is greatly appreciated.
