I own a 91 Explorer Sport 4.0. About every two weeks Im adding about a half gallon of coolant. I can smell it but cant find a leak anywhere. I have been in and out of the engine comartment, under the truck, and under the dash. Im clueless. All the hoses are tight and no wet spots in the driveway. Thought maybe I had a head gasket leak, but the oil is clean... and there is no oil in the coolant either. Im stumped, any ideas ???

Could be a leak in the heater core. I had that problem with my 1992 Explorer and replacing the heater core fixed it.

I replaced the heater core last November when I first bought the truck. Previous owner had by passed it because it was leaking, even with the bypass it was still losing coolant.

You can go here and click on the ones about coolant loss. I think one of them should answer your question. Dead Link Removed

Is there white smoke or moisture coming from your exhaust ? You must be losing coolant there from a head gasket or cracked head.
