Cooling Fans Come On, After Cold Start?

OK, the problem continues... today, it was a nice 60-degrees outside this morning, when I pulled my Explorer out of the garage, and once again, the fans kicked on shortly after start-up.

I suppose this is going to be an intermittent issue, and apparently not really related to the outside/ambient temperature? As before, the fans roared while first taking off, but then shut off completely after barely going down the road...

Just a much-later update... since our warmer summer weather started here (months ago), the fans stopped coming on, upon any cold starts... yet, they are running properly (either at half or full-speed) depending on the outside ambient temperature (85-105-degrees lately) and/or, if and when I also have the AC running.

Lastly, in all the time I've had this car, I've NEVER seen the shutters be in any position but closed... even during the winter months!

I think having them closed in Winter is likely good so that the engine is able to warm up quicker. Have you ever had this checked by the dealer? I believe some have had a faulty control module.

Yeah, I think that is the whole intent of having the shutters... to encourage faster warm-up during colder weather.

I will ask them to look into my issue, next time it needs to go into the dealer's shop for anything,

That and also the actual intent of the shutters closing at highway speed it reduce overall drag and to present a more aerodynamic vehicle.
See post #10.
