hey maybe someone can help,
does anyone know if there is a 160 degree thermostat that exists for the 4.0 6 in my ex if so what brand and model number...also is there is a all metal, or all aluminum radiator?.....thanks...... rob

Maybe I can help a little. First off, you don't want to go to a 160 degree t-stat even if there is one. Because your computer depends on the stock 190 degree t-stat to be in place to control it's fuel curves, etc. You will end up getting bad gas mileage by getting any lower. Also, I beleive your 92 came with a less efficient stock radiator than other explorers. 2 Core maybe? Upgrading to a 3 or 4 core radiator would make a big difference. As well as doing a cooling system flush.

thanks, so i guess ill stick with the 190 degree, ill just get a fail safe....im currently revamping the whole cooling system, hoses, pump, fan, clutch..etc....i do have a 4 core, i think........but the reason i want a all metal is so i dont have to worry about the plastic tanks on the side, my luck has been that they always leak.....rob

Stick with the 190 thermostat unless you have a chip that specifies a 180.

Good luck.....
