Hello,
I have a '92 X with the 6 cyl that has 233,000 miles. This is the best truck/vehicle that I have ever owned. It runs like a champ (knocking on my wooden desk), I drive it on 500 mile round trips twice a month.
I was sour on fords because my first car was a topaz, it was the biggest piece of lemon drop that you could imagine. I am a believer in ford now.
I have owned it for almost 2 years, with almost no unexpected problems.
Now it has grown on me so much that I have decided to restore it rather than save for a new truck. I'm not even close to rich so it will be a long road.
My first project after my brake work this weekend,
cooling system.
My temprature guage does not function.
Searching the forum I found that I should change the thermostat first, then my temprature sensors. What I could not find is,
Where exactly are these in the motor?
Thank you,
Damon

Heres a pic of where the parts are located. This pic is of a 92 so it should be the same as yours

Now to get to these you need to take off the intake tube and the plastic cover on the engine. The picture doesnt show the sending unit for the gague very well but it will give u an idea of where it is.

You guys are the best! Who could ask for more?

Just one question. I read and see here that the 1st gens have two temprature sensors. One for the guage and one for the computer. How do I know I am buying the right one. Is it the coolant temprature sensor?

Thanks, Damon

for the novice like me,
I just found out the hard way that it is the temp sending unit, not the coolant temp sensor.
I just bought the wrong one.
Ah well.
Damon
