Greetings....Okay i bought a 1997 explorer XLT 4x2 a few days ago went and got it serviced because transmission was slow sifting out of 1st gear...my mechanic took off the pan and found copper in the filter. He said who ever had before never serviced the tranny.....the torque converter was bad. shift solenoids 2 and 3 were bad, the clutches and the shift band. I took is to another guy he said try some locus transmission seal first (how accurate is that)? also is this worth fixing/rebuilding or should i buy a used one?

Last thing when I'm backing into a parking space the car shakes then shouts off.

Please advise Thanks

It's Lucas, not locus. But I wouldn't screw around with that. How much copper? Just a trace or a lot? A fluid change may help, but you probably do need to replace some parts. Solenoids, clutches, and a shift band don't sound bad if that's what it really needs. I'd probably fix it, depending on the condition and mileage on it.
