Made some good headway today. I'm at the point now I can blow this thing apart and finish the welding and get things painted and put back on. Maybe early next week I should be able to turn the key and start it up.:cool:

next mod, NOS shot

ok..... then next mod water alcohol injection?

Good grief!

SO I made some good progress last night and got the pipes out and welded. I need to pressure test the intake pipes to make sure they don't leak.

I spayed on a couple of layers of VHT paint on the manifolds and the exhaust pipes. They will all go back in tonight.

yeah true that but i haven't been around home in awhile and never seen them manifolds all perttied up like that lol

not sure yet there is a job just a few mins away im going to apply at but i still have to see if the truck will start up and i get my call tonight if i have to go out that way

aluminum shield = good idea

header wrap has come a long way though, there are plenty of corrossion resistant wraps out there
I personally like metal heat shields, they do such a good job, and no risk of trapping water and salt on the pipes

indeed, i normally see 1000* EGT and my probe is located about 3" from the turbo exhaust housing and somewhere around 1300* cruising at 80mph on my turbo car.

was there not enough adjustment on the WG actuator to turn the boost down? maybe i missed it along the way, but what kind of turbo is that?

Originally there was no adjustment. It's a T3/T4 hybrid out of a Datsun 280ZX. The wastgate only started to move at 7 PSI. Now it's fully open at 7.

i love Datsuns. someday i want my own datsun turbo.... in a 240z though

i don't even remember what engine your running. 4.0, 2.9, 2.8? i wanna say 4.0. big bucks no wammys!!!

Ya my brother inlaws 86 is pretty cool. I know he's been looking for an older 240 to drop his motor in. but I think he's planning to gut the interior and put a roll bar in so that he can go back to the local track. He got kicked off for not having adequate safety equipment for running 120 Mph in the 1/4. It's been dyno'd at 430 HP at the rear wheels.

My bronco has a 4.0L in it. Soon to be a turbo charged 4.0L.

I'm putting everything back on and finishing the small details. Plan is to start the truck up tomorrow evening.:D

Here is some progress I made last night.
