You can't use htem in the back as yuo have leaf springs. In the front I don't think you have coil springs, do you? They still used torsion bars I thought.

So, unless you have coil springs, then no, they won't work.

heh you're right. as you can probably tell i'm not too knowledgable about fixing up the X.

i found this on the same site tho, would it work?

this one is a "ride control helper" that is supposed to mount on your rear shocks to smooth out the ride...

Nah, I really don't see those helping too much either. Basically you (and I) have a shorter wheelbase Explorer. The ride is just naturally rough. Not much you can do about it, really.

I believe James T tried that same set up. Didn't work much I heard. Your best bet really is to get a very good set of shocks. Combine that with the right set of tires and your good to go. Don't get sucked in with those gimmicks and false advertisements.

All of that stuff is junk. Go with a good shock and good tires. It all depends on what ride you want and if you are going to haul anything.

i replaced the shocks pretty soon after picking up the x...

went with monroes. the ride was great for approx 2 weeks, then it went back to feeling just like it did before.

maybe i'll give the tire thing a try... i think my tires have a good amt of tread left on them tho

How are those supposed to install? Do they fit in-between the coils or what?

I found this for ya. I think its the same coils from JCWhitney.

i bought some coils at Autozone that go over any shock as a coilover. had to make some brackets/etc. figured id test it out and post about it if it made a difference. worked ok, but not worth the effort for the small change.
