Couldn't do RA Bushings

Also...what's a breaker bar?

It's what you need to do this job.

Basically it's a long(er) ratchet without a ratchet in it. A bar that you can attach a socket and get bigtime leverage. You NEED that leverage to force rusted bolts.

Jack it up and pop that 28mm bolt off. I have done it without air before but then, I am a hoss. :)

Well, I hate to say it guys, but I ended up going to a shop today to get it done. I had the day off from work and didn't want to wrestle with it again. I don't feel so bad though cause the garage couldn't even get them off with their air tools. They had to heat the RA nuts and the vertical bolts to get them off. Nonetheless, they charged me only 1.5 hrs. of labour so it only cost me around $120 (cdn.) for the job. Worth it to save a bunch of agrivation!!
Much quieter ride now and no more clunking over pot holes!!

That price is definitely worth it.

That's pretty rusted stuck, if air tools didn't go without heating the bolts. Wow. I know if mine had been that bad, I wouldn't have been able to brute force them off.

Glad it worked.

I didnt put locktite on my nuts when I reinstalled them, just cranked to 115 lbs.

Should i remove them again and use loctite?

i dont see the need....

When I did mine, I ground off the heads with the electric angle grinder, then used a drill with a metal bit and drilled three holes in the rivet's shank, then popped em out with a hammer and punch, easy.

I probably would not bother unless you have a little time to kill. I would keep an eye on them though. I have periodically re-torqued them, just to be sure.

pugsy: I just posted a reply to my own thread when I noticed you had similar issues. Jason94sport was right on the mark- this is a female dog of a job without air tools. I had the same access issues, and 28mm nut was frozen like yours. I paid a local garage $125.00 to do it with the parts I furnished, and they even threw in my annual safety inspection.

Well I do have air tools, and it makes this job immensely easier.

I ground off the heads of the rivets with a 4 inch grinder. I then took an air chisel with a punch on it (you can get them at Harbor Freight for under $10) and had the rivets out within seconds.

For the RA bolts, I first tried using a 2 foot breaker bar with the 28mm socket, and they didn't budge. So I heated them with a torch, then hit them with an impact wrench and they backed right off.
