me an my bud are thinkin about takin a '87 F150 300 I6 with 5 speed and puttin on a 3" body lift and a 2" spacer shackle lift. now ive learned from someone that the spacer/shackle kits that will work on X's will fit this year F150. now what size tires can i fit with 5" of lift and what is the bolt pattern on it? 5x5.5? and is my info correct on the spacer kit? thanks in advance.

EDIT: does anyone know if the rims are 15x7 or 15x8?

i wouldnt put on a 4" lift shock with a 2" lift.... you will get more travel, however, you may get unwanted travel, as in the wrong way and possibly damage something

the bolt pattern is 5 on 5.5"

and with 4-5" of total lift, 35s should fit with no problem

ok one more question do all F150s come with the spacers that people with X's use to lift them? oh and do you think it would be too heavy to tow behind my X, its reg bed and reg cab with the 300 I6.

How far do you plan on towing it? If it is not for long distances, or over mountains, you should be fine.....

yes, the f150 have what us explorer owners call a spacer... but to an f150 it is a stock coil seat piece and doesnt give lift

its gonna be from DC to raleigh about 300 miles but its a flat haul the whole way. thanks again jim, one more question if i do 4" coils in the front do i need ext radius arms?

Hey man, just some advice. Do you have a tranny cooler? This is a MUST for towing anything. Also when towing always disable the O/D. My personal recommendation is to NOT tow it. Get a friend with a fullsize to tow it for you. Some project truck is not worth your transmission.
