Need help from the EXperts on a couple of minor issues.
Last year I had to get a rebuilt trans for my 95 XLT. I had done quite a bit of damage to the old one and it was completely rebuilt (cost around $2100).
Recently I had an oil change done at a quickie lube place and when they checked the trans fluid they said that the fluid looked burnt and overfull.
Now since the tranny work is still under warranty I'll most likely take it to them to have it looked over but before I go in to unchartered waters (from my own experience) I'd like to know from others what to expect. Are they going to tell me that it's my fault the tranny fluid is burning and overfull? I haven't put any new fluid in, I don't tow with the truck, I haven't driven it hard etc. I drive mostly highway miles and have passenger load and haul a few hand tools and misc equipment is all. No excessive load in the truck and no, I don't weigh 750 lbs either...
Is the fluid being overfull (only by a very small amount according to the dipstick hash marks) a large problem? If so, how do I drain a small amount? I have little mechanical experience so I'm not sure where to start.
Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.
