Hi,

I have a '01 Explorer Sport Track and I have a couple of questions that maybe y'all can help with.

1. The brakes squeel very badly. I talked with the service advisor the last time I had it in for an oil-change and he said there was nothing they could do. I found that rather strange. Is there anything I can do?

2. My steering wheel has peeled a little bit at the top. Can I cover it with something? Any ideas/suggestions.

3. I seem to be getting really bad gas mileage. The metric equivalent is about 15Litres/100 km or around 15 Mpg. This seems really bad to me, can anyone offer any ideas to make this better?

Thanks,

Kevin

Well first of all, how many miles do you have on it? Get the damn thing in and collect on your FORD factory warranty before you miss out.

Sorry,

I don't understand your suggestion. What will FORD be able to help with, they said they couldn't help with the brakes. The steering wheel peel is very small and the mileage I expect they wouldn't deal with because of the chip/in-take mods.

There are a few things that can be done about the brake noise. First they could try de-glazing the rotors, providing the pads are still good (no cracks, haven't been over heated, etc...). If that doesn't work I'd recomend having a complete brake front brake job done (ie. new pads, turn rotors, etc..).
