I am fairly new to explorers and need a little help. first I am thinking about buying a billet grille and needed some info. I want one that looks like this? I can't tell for sure if this is an overlay which in the post he said it is but doesn't look like it just because you can't see factory grille. also has anyone converted their 95-97 ex to the hood latch from a 98+? and also are these step bars a direct bolt on for my 97 XLT? I am picking them up tomorrow so I hope so.

some billit grilles come with a tab that you screw onto the hood release, some people just keep a screwdriver handy.

Welcome to the site

anybody got an idea on the step tubes? also how hard to adapt the 98+ hood release to a 97?

the step tubes will fit under your truck. THeres holes already drilled in your frame for em.

good deal. was also wondering if you might know this one. I got them but no bolts so I called up Ford and they can't be ordered seperate plus this style is discontinued. so he gave me bolt specs from a 2001. which was an 8 MM bolt and locking nut clips but on the instruction seat it has 12 bolt 12 washers and 6 nuts. did the clips replace the stuff? or does anyone know what holds them on for a 97?

when i took my steps off it was clips, not washers where the bolts are. also the grill is an overlay, you can see the stock grill under it ever so lightly.

also any idea on how many clips there was and bolts? I would think 12 of each but on the instructions it says 12 bolts and washers and 6 nuts? so maybe 12 bolts and 6 clips? but where would the other bolts go into? thanks for all the help so far.

i cant rememeber but i;; answer the question tomorrow, my truck fianlly arrives in seattle tomorrow.

good deal Thanks I went and just got 12 bolts and clip nuts and washers but I won't be able to get around to do it until later on this week. too cold and was snowing here today (still is)

really, how much you gettin?

not bad just starting to cover the ground now but depending on which weather channel you watch it says 6-8" but then again I've heard that for 3 weeks now. I doubt much but have been having highs of 30 for a couple weeks with exception of one day last week it was 59.

i know i remeber that day. it was awesome. now im here in vancouver sigh.

i'd definitely imagine pretty chilly up there. what r u going to school for?

also curious if you may know about converting hood latch to 98+ style can it be done and if so how hard is it?
