Is this a good replacement: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...ck=Search_01386_1443442_-1&pt=01386&ppt=C0331

How difficult it is to replace the radiator?

I'm getting ready to replace the rad in my 07 Mounty, but am going with a Spectra unit. There doesn't seem to be any consensus on the quality/ lifespan of any replacement rads. For every post on successful replacement, there seems to be a contrary post regarding a failure within a couple of years.
Make sure the trans connections on your replacement rad match the ones on your current rad otherwise you'll have a bit more work to do. Seems that some have had issues disconnecting the trans lines, others don't. It also seems some have had some difficulty getting the rad past the a/c brackets.
Give me a week and I'll set you know how difficult it was for me. I'm going to take the opportunity to change hoses, thermostat and an idler pulley that squeaks at start up on cold days. Might as well take advantage of the extra clearance while the rad is out.

Well that radiator is $132 locally at parts plus, so I guess I'll see how it goes.

Here's a good video from one of our members with instructions on how to replace the radiator:

I just picked it up from the shop and its just a very slow leak. They described it like it was squirting coolant all over. So I don't have to rush so much now. Phew.

I had my radiator replaced along with the following repairs...

Oil Change
New Plugs/Wires
Fuel Filter Change
Air Filter Change
Flush & Fill new Radiator, New Radiator Cap

Total repair with parts and labor was around $900 (I believe the radiator was around $260 of that)

Per my previous post, I replaced my rad last Fri night with a Spectra unit. Most time consuming rad swap I've ever done at 4 1/2 hours, but that also included replacing the thermostat, accessory belt, the grooved idler pulley (which was failing) and hoses and cleaning out the overflow tank. I did not remove the fan and didn't see it as necessary for additional work space.

The trans lines were the most difficult part of the job. I ended up unscrewing the fittings from the old rad with the lines attached and then separating the lines from the fittings. I used the lisle scissor tool and pressed it between the line and the old fitting with the aid of a pair of channel lock pliers as simple hand pressure was not enough. Now I know how the fitting works I can get the lisle tool to disconnect the line with a bit more ease and could separate the line without removing the old fitting. Still need to tap it into place with a small hammer.

I removed the rad with the side mounts intact and installed the same way. I also completely removed the bolts holding the a/c condenser and the rad mounts rather than just loosen them up and hope for the best. A little grease on the end of the bolt heads kept them stuck in the socket when inverted during reinstall.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say this job is a 5 for the trans line fitting difficulty and removal and reinstall of the rad and a/c with the side mounts. Ford totally over engineered those mounts.

I just put a third radiator in the 07 Exp XLT.

The past two replacements were Spectras. They developed leaks at the upper seam; one was top drivers side at the corner closest to the cap and the second one was actually across the entire top seal.

I went for broke and put in a Ford Radiator (8005). Apparently it was redesigned in 2010 and is supposed to be better.

We will see...
