I have a 2002 Mountaineer and the tailgate molding (below the Window) cracked from top to bottom last night. (it went down to 12 degrees). Has any one had this problem and what was the fix. I know I have to get a new one but has any one heard of a recall or something for body molding?

man, I have been messing around with mine since I had it. Mine cracked right down the middle on my 02 Mountaineer. I only have a power train warrenty. It cost me 405.00 dallors to replace. NOW the damn glue they used to glue it back into place isn't bounding, it keeps poping off. I had the new one reglued now 3 times, it just keeps poping off.

I read somewhere that there was a recall for that call your dealership to see for sure

no. There is no recall on this. As much as I liked there to have been a recall, there just is not one.

Just had mine fixed last week. Same thing..no idea how it happened. Dealer said part was $55 and then paint etc. about $250 total. Out of warranty for me but my slaesman jumped in and pulled a few strings so no cost. Got lucky. Had a bid done at Maaco and same thing $250. Good luck.try raising a stink might help you like it worked for me. On another note this weekend my passenger side window rolled up and hit the top...crack..snapped something that sent it crashing back into the door. $286 later on Monday, I traded the sucker in today for a dodge van. Better suited for work and better mileage. Had enough in my 14 months. My Audi with 140k miles was cheaper to run than this.

I just noticed that mine cracked - sometime between last night and this morning - from top to bottom, just beside the Ford oval. CRAP. It was only 34 last night. I might have to Bondo and paint it until I can afford $250, or at least to get it through the winter.
