I have never experienced but I would think you would blow the head gasket over and over. Oil and coolant leaking into the cylinders or out the side depending on how it's warped or cracked. Stuff like that would make sense to me.
White smoke out the exhaust. ..oil in the radiator. ..water in the oil..perfectly clean spark plugs..loss of compression. .loss of water in the radiator. ..90-94tm 4.0 (<<<probably the best sign) lol
damn, i have none of those symptoms. i just replaced the heater core and for some reason its still leaking behind the firewall. could the water pump be preventing it to circulate???
It is possible your water pump isn't working. The blades could be gone. I don't know what the water pumps in these look like but I know on my brother's Aerostar his water pump was bad and when he pulled it off it looked like a saw blade. Do you have overheating issues? Maybe the tube is clogged and it's just building pressure and splitting your heater core open. Or you could have replaced it with another bad heater core.
temp gauge fluctuates a small amount but doesnt overheat. i changed the thermostat when i changed the heater core. i pressure tested it and the pressure slowly dropped. when the engine clicks, the heater core bubbles once and stops. heaters work good. the only place it leaks is behind the firewall.....
What do these freeze plugs look like? Is this as weak link? I just replaced water pump and hoses, and seem to have sprung a leak somewhere back in the block. '91 XLT
