"milking" the insurance company or the driver for anything other than the damages incurred is a bunch of crap and it really pi$$es me off! that kind of garbage is the exact reason we pay so much money for insurance. when i got rear ended in my mustang 5 years ago, people kept telling me "hey, go for what you can" telling me to go for medical problems i didn't have, kind of like a free payday. hell no, that just isn't right. all i cared about was getting my car fixed and getting back on the road. hell. i even felt bad asking them for a rental car, but i really needed transportation. i guess what i'm really trying to say, is if you're not hurt, (thank god) just get your truck fixed and be glad she has insurance for that. just move on. sorry, i just need to vent and this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

I'm with you. Some people (not knocking anyone here) are just too damn lazy to earn their money.

P.S. while it is in the shop rental cars are FUN!

Holy crap I thought the westin bar was in the center? Screw the replacement bumper and get the insurance to replace it with a Ken Mountain bumper like over in the group purchase thread!:D

Yeah it used to be in the center. When I seen my X from far away it looks like I really messed up installing the bar!

seriuosly you should just get the cash the would spend and get a winch bumper! it would prob be cheaper plus it is super strong and wont twist like a pretzel.

:fire: So Much Bumping...

It was written so many ways so many times. Just get it fixed, you will get the cost to fix it. If you want more BE A MAN pay for the extras you want.

Don't be like all those who take & take & take the insurance for all its worth!

In My Opinion there is nothing worse than one who says or fabricates a story to get more than what is wrong.

Be Honest!!!!

A rental car is cool, til yours gets fixed cause your now out. But don't go making false claims.

PLAIN & SIMPLY IT'S WRONG!

Don't be another one of those guys that everyone complains about.

For me I know that I have not or will never be one of those kinds of people that try and get what I can!

What I got is mine! I didn't get it by false means! I have very little tolerance for those that do!

29 March 2002 Alto's Soap Box Moment !:fire:

Here's an insurance update.

OK, I found out a couple of things about how insurance works. Now your company (or the person who hit you) may be different.

My brother's 2001 Impreza is in the shop. He was going to check on getting some aftermarket parts instead of the frumpy factory ones. They ended up always costing the same or less, so there was no "cheating" the insurance company. Anyhow, the shop said that certain parts are mandated for use in the repairs. They can't order parts from any random place. They have to use factory Subaru parts, or from a dealer of such parts. So there you go.

If I have just installed a Manik Brush guard, do I need to claim that as an addition to my insurance if its damaged in an accedent? And what kind of stuff does insurance cover in the vehicle? I carry a lot of tools with me, if they were damaged or stolen is it my renters insurance or my full coverage that covers it. Just had a few questions if I should ever get into an accedent.
Thanks
Blake

U lose any paint in the accident? Cause if you did you can usually get the whole car painted because you can claim the color won't match

You can get anything you want insured. You just have to tell them you would like to add some after market parts to your insurance.
You will have to take it to them so they can verify everything.

Your rate will increase.

But you can get Brush Guard, Stereo, Lights, Roof Rack. You just have to let them know that you want to cover everything. Warning it could get expensive for theft and accedent insurance.

When I crashed my Motorcycle years ago my insurance covered everything, watch, shoes, helmet, leather jacket, even a pair of jeans.

I talked to my agent and he told me as long as it is permanetely attached it is covered (bolted down). I guess this could vary depending on companies.

I know when my budy and I got cremed by that old lady in her car on our bikes her insurance was more than willing to pay... oh wait that is different.

Updates!
1.) We both have the same insurance company
2.) The Sport grill is a factory replacement (even though is for the Sports!)
3.) I forgot
4.) I agree with Alto
5.) Check is on the way!
6.) A few days after the crash I noticied a bunch of glass damage to the lower passnger side portion of the hood. Paint job!

Thanks for you input!

Update #2:
1. Sport grill not coming, regular grill to be put in
2. 1-2 weeks for fix
3. NO rental CAR!!!!

Darn forgot something
4. Ggrrrrrrrrrrrr

Man this really burns my arse. Where do peopl get their licenses? I mean really, how do you miss a big truck driving down the road? People get behind the wheel and into their own little world. Last weekend, some idiot turned left, right in front of me. I didn't even get a chance to hit the brakes. Of course I bounce off of her,( actually I drove over her) and into a brand new BMW X5. Poor guy was just an innocent bystander. And the lady that turned in front of me was mad at me for hitting her???!!!!!

So my truck is wrecked. Totally caved in the drivers side front. I couldn't even drive the thing afterwards. Fortunetly I wasn't going all that fast. Funny thing is, after I hit her and bounced off, she continued forward and hit the rear of the truck as I passed by.

Anyway, now that it is at the shop, I am having a 99 bumper and bumper cover put on. Same price as the 98 but I get the better looking bumper. I just got the safari bar and it was in the back of thew truck. I was on my way to install it.

Glad to hear no one was hurt in your accident Johnny 5

Hollowpoint

i know what you mean hoolow. i mean how can you not see my big BRIGHT red truck comin at your ass and they still have the nerve to pull out in front of me. most of the time its a small damn car too!

It's called survival of the fittest.

Those that are less intelligent are more likely to come to an unfortunate end through a stupid action. These accidents are proof of that. That's why every year there are so many candidates for the Darwin Awards.

hollowpoint - Yeah people can be pretty stupid sometimes. These don't seem to understand that fact that their car is small and my truck is heavy. Simple Physics! They should have learned this in high school.

Tarhell085 - seems to follow this pattern, Small car, Small brain

DocVijay - Exactly!

Got my truck back yesterday afternoon and installed a Bugdeflector II that night! In a couple of weeks I'll have enough money to do some more mods. There goes another $400 bucks! Pics later, I have to go move my neons in the back seat. Didn't realize that they wouldn't fold down until I cracked a tube! Oh well!

Since then I have pout on PIAA silicon 20" wipers and bought: Taillight gaurds, Lund Windjammer, and headlight covers

Thanks for all of your help you guys!
