crazy new ideal for a first gen explorer(well maybe)

This is slightly off topic but, omg that F250 Framed Explorer is an awesome idea... lol

Having a diesel in my X would be sweet.. I'd rather have my 302 though if I ever had the choice between the two when I swap the 4.0 out.

i wouldnt mind a deisel. It does get cold around here so that hurts the diesel idea for me, im not gellin' friendly. I'm not going to look into deisel too much because i can't even spell diesel. I know enough about deisel to know the outrageously high compression means your rpm limit would be lower, and the way they save gas is their monster torque can turn wider gears easier than a gas motor. Your not going to save much if any on gas unless you swap gears for a taller set, like ditching 4.10 for 3.55's or the like. higher pressure fuel pumps would be needed. and i think i read non-turbo deisels are much slower to respond where as turbo-deisels drive more like a gas engine.

Personal opinion, don't do it, diesels stink.
one of the reason was for it to run on free fuel;) I own 4 other diesels (chevy went boom boom ) so the smell is okay with me:p:

There already is a diesel Explorer. Its called an Endeavor and it is sold in the asian market. I saw one on a business trip to India. I don't recommend you go to India just to se one. It has a 2.5L engine. You can find reviews on the www. Reviews said it was great off road but slow on the highway.
