Hey guys I was wondering if any one of you know thats wrong with my explorer. Heres the problem when ever i go over like a speed bump or even when i get in and out of the car there is a creeking noise from the front drivers side. This also happens if I pull upand down on the front fender. Could it be my shocks, or ball joints or something else?

Thanks

When mine did that, it was the lower ball joint, there are many write-ups on how to diagnose, so I won't repeat it from memory here (so I don't screw it up).

EDIT: I diagnosed mine by holding the crown nut on the bottom of the balljoint, then rocking the vehicle, I could feel it in the palm of my hand.

There are also many write-ups on how to replace as well.

You could also look for worn lower arm bushings, sway bar bushings that need silicone, etc.

Good luck!

My '97 was doinf the same things as yours, but on the passenger side. I rocked the truck side to side and held my hand on the tire and could feel it moving in and out and making a knocking soound. Both, my upper and lower ball joints were shot. I just replaced all four and outer tie rods while I was at it. noise is gone and it feels better too. You can take it to a mechanic and have them look at it and get an estimate too. That way you can at least know if it's that or something else. They'll usually do that for free.

Thanks I did some feeling around today and it feels like the creeking is comming form the upper ball joint.

Yeah, I also have the same problem coming in from the front passengers side... I don't mind the sound at all, but do I have to fix it? because I can deal with it no problem
