I know that if I have a CEL on, and the symptom (P0306 in my case) does not re-occur, at some point the CEL will turn itself off.

Does anyone know the criteria ? x number of starts ? x number of full warm-ups ? x number of 50 mile trips ? other ?

Thanks.

PS - I already know I can reset the CEL by disconnecting the battery.

I believe in the manual it says 5 starts to reset. But a lot of times it will do it in just a couple.

The code gets stored in the PCM for 60 on/off key cycles providing that the fault doesn't exist anymore. Not all faults will show a check engine light. Sometimes the light will appear, then disappear, but the code will still be in the memory.
