My cruise control has always worked sporadically. Sometimes it wouldn't engage until after several attempts (press Set, dash light would flash on and off), then eventually it stopped engaging altogether, although the dash light would occasionally stay lit.

I picked up the switch that is on the master cylinder at the dealer yesterday, but first checked the connector to make sure it was plugged in firmly. I removed and replaced it, then tested the cruise on the way over to the dealer. Now it engages, but is in a constant state of acceleration. Before I install the $40 switch and render it unreturnable, I wanted to see if that switch being bad could cause the runaway cruise control or if I'm looking at another problem.

Amazing what that switch has an effect on. I went ahead and replaced it and cruise control is working properly again.

Good deal!! Thanks for the update. It's nice when things work out. :D
