I found it easy to open the cruise control cover on the right side of my steering wheel to access the bulb, except there was'nt one in there. I think they went to LED's with the hope that they would last forever..., did'nt happen. So anybody got a fix for this? While I got you're eyes I also had trouble with my Mach radio display I found mine to be a good 'ol defective display. Ford won't fix it because according to customer service I'm the only explorer in the world to have this problem

Far from it. I think 75% of the folk here including me have encountered the radio display problem. I got mine fixed under warrenty , do a serch. Some where around here there is a link to a how to page to fix this. It seems pertty easy to understand.

That brings up an interesting question, on my steering wheel, (00 Sport), the only lights that light up for the cruise control is Off and On on the left side.

Should the right side of the wheel for set accel, coast and resume also light up?

thats funny you should ask that b/c i've been meaning to only it's my left side(on/off) that does not light up and my right side(accell, etc) does light up. should the on/ off ( left side) light up...96 xlt

I would now say YES, it is suppose to light up, and since your right side cruise stuff lights up, I would imagine that mine should light up as well.

I will be looking into this Monday, and have my dealer check this out, since it is still under the Bumper-to- Bumper warranty.

Yeah every switch on my 2000 lights up , including the both sides of the cruse control.
So , I can tell you it is soupost to but I can not help you fix it sorry :(

Both sides of the buttons on the steering wheel should light up. To fix it, you need to replace the affected switch. I think people have tried in the past to look for a bulb and never found one. The switch from Ford has the bulb built in.

Aww.. I was just about to pry it open and find out the bulb type, but I just read this thread and you have to buy the whole assembly? mman that stinks! Oh well, I learn to live with it

Robert in his post was right,

You have to replace the whole switch for this to light up.

Just had my right side switch for the cruise replaced by the dealer (under warranty). It now lights up.

Man, talk about a piss poor design! The old switch still worked fine, just would't light up.

$20.00 for the switch, $60.00 labor!!! (Warranty)
